Fat Shadows

Three for three with the training regimen.  Finished my two miles at the high school track in 17:15.  For the second straight night, my breathing is improving.  Hopefully, I will get my legs underneath me soon.  I met an unwelcome friend right after Turn 3 of each of my laps around the track tonight.  With the sun setting, a perfect shadow of my large gut was visible along my right hand side.  It was very humbling and served as a nice reminder that I have a very very long journey ahead of me.  My ultimate goal for the year will be to lose fifty pounds and run a marathon.  The good thing about seeing my large gut in the shadow is that I decided to skip my nightly bowl of ice cream.  By the end of the week, I will come up with a list of my seven or eight favorite junk foods that I need to give up.  Ice cream will certainly be high on the list.  On a real positive note, my eight-year old son, Andrew, joined me and made it through the first mile.  I certainly couldn’t finish that distance at that age!
